Take My Cup

Victor Hall & Murray Wylie | Brisbane Christian Fellowship BCF

There is perhaps no more arresting moment in the Calvary story than when Christ prayed for the ‘cup’ to be taken from Him. He then cried out, ‘Nevertheless, not My will but Yours be done’. Luke 22:42. Doubtless, we have often mused on the meaning of the cup and the extent of Christ’s agony as He drank this cup of suffering for all mankind. However, we must also consider His earlier statement, ‘You will indeed drink My cup’. Matt 20:23. What does this mean? Do we accept the need to participate in Christ’s sufferings?
